Biochemistry
Biochemistry is the branch of science that explores the structures and chemical processes of molecules in living organisms that interact to form cells, tissues and whole organisms. The Biochemistry program at Queen’s provides students with in-depth training in a wide range of important topics that are related to these processes, including the mechanisms of cancer progression, cellular communication, and the molecular and chemical basis of infection, inheritance and disease. The program also offers opportunities for students to explore rapidly expanding fields in molecular genetics, metabolism of biomolecules, bioengineering and regenerative medicine through hands-on training with professors in research labs.
Life Sciences
The Life Sciences program provides a cross-disciplinary education in the scientific disciplines that are fundamental to the maintenance of health and the treatment of disease. It is designed to exploit the synergy of a highly integrated curriculum that includes traditional and emerging biomedical sciences and to promote the acquisition of critical thinking, independent learning, problem solving, an sophisticated communication skills.
Health Sciences
The BHSc degree has been designed and built by educational experts for students who hope to become health professionals. It's an ideal degree for students who have a passion for science and a desire to learn about it in new and progressive ways.
Available both on-campus and online, our program is distinctive in that it is designed to align closely with the competency framework used by medical schools and other health profession programs. By doing so, students in the program will not only learn the course content, but will learn how to apply and extend their knowledge by becoming effective advocates, collaborators, communicators, leaders, scholars, professionals, and content experts. We hope to welcome you as the newest members of our community.
